HISTORY OF THE RACE: The Camas County High School mascot, the Mushers, has been an icon since 1928 and captures the essence of the Camas prairie where snow plays a major part in the lives of residents. Historically, mail carriers delivered mail by dogsled to Fairfield from Gooding, Idaho when winter snow closed the route to other means of travel. So the Camas County Dogsled Association, Camas County Chamber of Commerce, and citizens of Camas County felt this area an ideal location to host multi-class sled dog races.

Our goal is to host a fun and challenging event to promote the sport of sled dog racing and to introduce mushers to the great community of Fairfield that endorses “Musher" Pride!
